Day
01: Arrival in KTM & transfer to hotel. After a brief rest sightseeing
of Pasupati Temple & Boudhanath Stupa.
Pashupati Nath: Pashupati Temple is is one of the most important and
world renowned Hindu temple stand on the banks of Bagmati River, between the
airport and Boudha. This Shiva temple on the subcontinent draws numerous devotees,
sadhus and holy men from all around the world. Lord Shiva is known as the destroyer
and creator of the Hindu religion and appears on many forms. Although Shiva
is often bloodthirsty god, no animal sacrifices are made here. Outside the temple
you will see numerous people selling flowers, incense and other offering materials.
In-front of the temple there is a bull known as Nandi facing towards the temple.
Only Hindus are allowed to enter the temple and you are not allowed to take
photographs of the Lord shiva inside the temple. Bagmati River Bank on the side
of Pashupati, is also a popular place for cremation. Just beside this temple
lies Guheyeshwari temple.
Boudhanath Stupa: It was constructed in 5 c. AD. Boudhanath is one of
the largest stupa in the world and the largest in Nepal. (It looms 36m high
and 100m in diameter). It is surrounded with prayer wheels that content religious
texts. It is said to have been built by Lichchhavi King Mana Dev in the 5th
century A. D. It is built on an octagonal base inset with prayer wheels. There
are many Tibetian Buddhist monasteries in vicinity of stupa.
Day 02: After breakfast sightseeing of Kathmandu city & Swayambhu
stupa. Lunch break. After lunch sightseeing of Patan city.
Durbar
Square: Durbar Square is a world heritage site. It's a complex of places,
courtyards and temples, built between the 12th and 18th century, used to be
the seat of the ancient Malla kings of Kathmandu. Kathamandap is one of Kathmandu's
oldest buildings. It was constructed 800 years ago. From this ancient edifice
Kathmandu derives its name. Basantapur is residential place of Living Virgin
Goddess Kumari, where girl is chosen to be Living Goddess.
Swayambhunath (Buddhist Stupa): Swayambhu, the Buddhist temple is situated
on the top of a hill west of the city, is one of the popular and instantly
recognizable symbols of Nepal. The temple is also known as the monkey temple
after the large tribe of monkeys which guards the hill. This huge stupa is
surrounded by other famous temples and gompas. The great thunderbolt which
is known as vajra is on the edge of the stupa was built during the Malla kings
period. On the top of the stupa is a gold-colored square block from which
the watchful eyes of the Buddha gaze out across the valley in each direction.
The question mark-like nose is actually the Nepali number ek or one is a symbol
of unity.
Patan: Patan is separated form Kathmandu only by the Bagmati River
and is the second largest town in the valley. It is also known as Lalitpur,
which means city of beauty. Patan has a long Buddhist history and have stupas
at four corners. Like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square is also
packed with temples. Most of these temples are built during the Malla kings
period.
As in Kathmandu, Patan also has an old royal palace built during the Malla
kings period. There is a stone column holding up a statue of Sidhinarsimha
Malla, King of Patan. Remarkable monument here is the 17th century temple
of Krishna Temple dedicated to the Hindu God Krishna, entirely built on stone.
Golden Temple is a Buddhist monastery with wall painting, 14th century statues
and ancient scriptures. Mahabouddha, the 14th century Buddhist monument is
an excellent example of terra cotta art form.
Day 03: After early breakfast departure for rafting starting point
(approx 3 hrs drive) - Charaudi. After a short briefing rafting on Trishuli
River. Overnight in tents on river side.
Trishuli River: Trishuli River is a magnificent adventure to nature,
the most exciting way of exploring its deep valleys surrounded by mountainous
landscapes. Nepal now has a reputation for being one of the best places for
rafting in the world. Tourists are offered wide choice of trips on wild rivers;
subtropical climate and broad white beaches are ideal for camping. The river
trips offer the best range of scenery and rapids. Trishuli is the most popular
river for rafting because of its accessibility by road along its major part.
During rafting tourists will be escorted by professional rafting guide and will
be provided with safety jacket and helmet.
Day 04: After breakfast departure for Pokhara (approx 3 hrs drive).
Arrival in Pokhara and transfer to hotel. After a brief rest sightseeing of
Pokhara valley (i.e. David's falls, Gupteshwore Mahadev's cave, Tibetian Refugee
camp etc). After sightseeing transfer to Lake Phewa for boating.
Pokhara: Pokhara is a place of remarkable natural beauty. It is Nepal's
premier resort under the shadow of the Fishtail Peak "Machhapuchhare"
(6977m) of the majestic Annapurna Range. Phewa Lake the second largest lake
in Nepal is the center of all attractions in Pokhara.
Day 05: After breakfast departure for Chitwan (approx 4 hrs drive).
Arrival in Chitwan National Park and transfer to resort. Various jungle activities.
Royal
Chitwan National Park: The 932 sq.km park is located in the subtropical
lowlands and consists of sal forests, tall grasslands, hills, ox-bow lakes and
flood plains. Over 50 species of mammals, 55 species of amphibians and reptiles
and 525 species of birds are found here. Animals include the one horned rhino,
Bengal tiger, gaur, wild elephant, antelope, striped hyena, pangolin, gharial
crocodile. Cobras, kraits and pythons are also found here. There are many Tharu
(Ethnic people) villages adjoining the park.
There are resorts and hotels for accommodation. The jungle activities include
elephant safari, jungle walk, bird watching, canoe ride, jeep safari, excursions
to crocodile, elephant breeding camps, Tharu Traditional dances etc.
Day 06: Full day with different jungle activities in Chitwan.
Day 07: After breakfast departure for Kathmandu (approx 7 hrs drive).
Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Evening Traditional dinner with
dance.
Day 08: Free morning for shopping. Check out time 1200 hrs. Transfer
to international airport and departure for onward destination.
Cost includes: Accommodation on twin sharing basis with breakfast in KTM
& Pokhara, all meals during rafting and in Chitwan, all entrance fees
and national park permit, Russian speaking guide in KTM only, transport as
per program, English speaking guide in Pokhara & Chitwan, one boating
on Lake Phewa in Pokhara & one traditional dinner with dance.
Cost excludes: Airport tax US$ 15 per person, lunch and dinner in
KTM & Pokhara, personal expenses, beverages and tips.
